More families now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI answers which school suits their child before they ever reach your website. This audit shows what those answers say about AIAE today, how that compares with Ilim, Al-Taqwa, Minaret and others, and what to fix first.
Saigon Digital helped us increase awareness of BVIS and support admissions for the opening of our new campus. Through a focused SEO and AI visibility strategy, they helped more parents and families discover BVIS when searching online for international school options. Their work strengthened our digital presence and helped us reach prospective families at an important time for the school.

View Case StudiesAIAE has a story no other school in Melbourne can tell. The problem is that AI answers are not telling it.
AIAE has taught the IB Diploma for three decades and describes itself as the first and only Muslim school to offer all three IB programmes in the southern hemisphere. Yet when we asked an AI engine for the best IB school in Melbourne for Muslim families, it named Islamic College of Melbourne, founded in 2011 and offering only the Diploma, as the school that "stands out". AIAE was not mentioned.
We ran the questions Melbourne families actually ask through a web-grounded AI search engine on 17 September 2026 and recorded which schools the answer named. AI answers vary by day, device and location, so treat these as a snapshot rather than a permanent ranking.
When a parent already knows your name, AI gets the facts right. When a parent is still choosing, which is the moment that decides the shortlist, AIAE is named in one of four answers, and never with the IB story that sets it apart. You also run two Caroline Springs campuses, yet the local "best private school" answer does not mention them.
Islamic College of Melbourne wins the IB question with a Domain Rating of 10, lower than AIAE's 16. This is not a question of authority. It is a question of clear, first-party content that says what AIAE is, in plain words an AI engine can quote.
Each AI platform builds its answers from what it can crawl and trust on the open web. We checked whether the major AI crawlers can reach aia.vic.edu.au and what they find when they get there.
GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot both get a clean 200 on the homepage. Nothing is blocked, but the IB differentiator is not on the pages it reads.
Google-Extended is allowed, but the empty sitemap and blocked /uploads/ folder limit what Google can index and reuse in AI answers.
PerplexityBot gets a 200. Perplexity leans heavily on third-party lists, where Ilim, Al-Taqwa and Islamic College of Melbourne currently appear more often.
Gemini draws on the same Google index, so the sitemap, meta description and schema gaps in Section 05 carry straight across.
SEO figures from Ahrefs, 17 September 2026, for aia.vic.edu.au (Melbourne campuses).
The Melbourne Muslim schools parents are most likely to compare you with, measured on search authority and on how often they were named in the four parent queries above.
| School | DR | Keywords | Visits / mo | Named in AI answers | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AIAE You | 16 | 68 | ~546 | 1 of 4 | Strongest IB offer in the group (PYP, MYP and DP), but the story is missing from your own pages |
| Islamic College of Melbourne | 10 | 46 | ~232 | 3 of 4 | Dedicated IB Diploma pages that pair "Islamic College" with "IB Diploma" in plain words, so AI picks it for the IB question despite the lowest authority here |
| Ilim College | 39 | 108 | ~594 | 1 of 4 | Highest authority in the set, and a homepage title that literally reads "Islamic School Melbourne" |
| Al-Taqwa College | 28 | 24 | ~1,031 | 1 of 4 | Strong brand recognition and a well-populated Wikipedia entry (size, founding year, campus) that AI quotes directly |
| Al Siraat College | 17 | 68 | ~2,082 | 1 of 4 | Same authority as AIAE, almost four times the organic traffic, and a clear "northern suburbs" positioning |
| Minaret College | 18 | 25 | ~626 | 0 of 4 | Comparable authority to AIAE, and also absent from the AI answers we tested |
DR, keywords and visits from Ahrefs (17 September 2026). "Named in AI answers" counts the four non-brand parent queries in Section 02.
While auditing how AI sees AIAE, we also looked at aia.vic.edu.au itself (built on Craft CMS). These specific issues hold back both your search visibility and how well the site serves enquiring families, and each one is fixable.
robots.txt points search engines to aia.vic.edu.au/sitemap.xml, but that file is an empty sitemap index containing zero URLs. Google and AI crawlers get no list of your pages and have to find them by following links alone.
robots.txt disallows /uploads/, /images/ and /assets/. /uploads/ is where the site stores 23 of the image files on your homepage plus the PYP brochure and IB subject guides, so search and AI engines are told not to read some of your best IB content.
None of the 17 pages we checked has schema.org markup. The homepage, IB Diploma, MYP, PYP, School Profile and Mission pages all have an empty meta description, and the homepage has no sharing image. The homepage title is simply "AIA Home - AIA", and it carries 23 separate H1 headings, which blurs what the page is about.
The Melbourne Senior Campus page title reads "Year 6 - 1" instead of Year 6 to 12. There are three separate contact pages (/contact, /contact-us and /contact-us-5), and every page we tested took around 2.5 seconds before the server began responding (measured repeatedly from our test location).
Web development is a core strength at Saigon Digital, across Craft CMS, WordPress and custom builds. Fixing the issues above is part of the work, not a separate project. We handle the AI visibility, the SEO and the website itself.
The highest-leverage changes AIAE can make now to start appearing in AI answers for the questions parents are asking, typically within 30 to 90 days.
Regenerate sitemap.xml so it lists every public page, and remove the /uploads/ block from robots.txt (keep genuinely private folders blocked). This lets Google and AI engines index your full site, including the IB brochures.
State plainly, on the homepage and the IB pages, that AIAE is Australia's first Islamic school and the first and only Muslim school in the southern hemisphere to offer the PYP, MYP and Diploma. Add IB Diploma results and alumni outcomes. This is the sentence we want AI to repeat.
Add School and Organization schema for each campus, write proper titles and meta descriptions for the core pages, fix the "Year 6 - 1" title, merge the three contact pages, and publish an llms.txt pointing AI engines to your strongest content.
This audit shows the gap. Closing it takes the website, the SEO and the AI visibility working together. We handle all three, then keep it growing.
AIAE already has the strongest IB offer among Melbourne's Muslim schools. The work is making sure every AI engine knows it. We usually start with a fixed-price foundation sprint (AI and GEO, SEO, and the website fixes above), then a simple monthly retainer to keep growing and maintain the site. A 30-minute call is enough to map it out.
Nick Rowe · CEO & Co-Founder, Saigon Digital
A fixed-price sprint: get AIAE's IB story into AI answers, fix the SEO foundations, and repair the technical issues on the website. One scope, one price.
A simple monthly retainer once the foundation is set: continued SEO and AI visibility growth, content for enrolment season, and website maintenance and support. Rolling monthly, no long lock-in.
Families shortlisting for 2027 are asking these questions now. Each enrolment cycle where AI names another school for the IB question is a cycle of enquiries AIAE never sees.
